DGFT has extended the timeline to update IEC code for Financial Year 2020-21 from 30th June 2021 to 31st July 2021.
DGFT vide its notification No 58 dated 12/02/2021, made it mandatory for all IEC holders to update the Import-Export Code on yearly basis between April-June. Even if there is no change in the IEC, still the IEC Holder is required to update the same. The IEC issued by DGFT would be deactivated If the IEC is not updated within this time frame.
In continuation to the DGFT notification No. 58, dated 12.02.2021, it has been informed by DGFT today that the last date for modification/ updation of IEC has been extended up to 31.07.2021.
The site was not working properly since last two days and users were facing difficulty in getting their IEC updated Now finally the extension was granted till 31st July,2021
EIC holders are required to update their IEC (Import Export Code) by logging into www.dgft.gov.in. Here the user is required to update the data pertaining to IEC Code such as Name, GSTIN, Address, bank account details, branch addition and deletion etc along with the required documents for updating any changes made to the data.
An Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) is an important business identification number which is mandatory for carrying out import to India or export from India. A person cannot import or export until he has obtained an IEC unless specifically exempted
